As a person who hated getting socks and underwear as gifts when I was a kid, I have to admit that recently I have actually asked for those items for gifts. For Christmas one of my daughters got an inexpensive manicure set from her sister. Turns out that manicure sets are like watches, you can get a low cost $5 blue light special or you can get a precision crafted set from Rubis. Who would have thought.
I am considering parting ways with the golf clubs in my garage. They have been hanging there for 6 years and I have not touched them in at least 4. I pretty much have a full set and a half of clubs, 2 golf bags and probably 5-6 dozen balls (mostly used). I guess I am finally realizing that I just don’t have the time or all the proper equipment, granted I never had a pair of golf shoes or the tacky pants, heck the 3-par course I visited a number of times closed over 3 years ago. Maybe I should take some pictures of the stuff now while my grass is short and throw it up on craigslist.
As a father of two girls that are quickly approaching the feared teenage years one of the things on my mind is how do I have a relationship with my daughters over the next 10 years to protect them from guys like I used to be or even worse. That really scares the crap out of me, especially now that one of them has received jewelery gifts from a young boy in her class. Granted it wasn’t a gold bangle or something real fancy, it was an inexpensive ring - but it was a step above the plastic jewelery you can get for a quarter from the machines in the front of the grocery store.
I have picked up a couple of highly recommended books but if I don’t read them they really won’t do much good. The challenge is just spending the time where it is needed and not getting caught up in things that won’t make a difference. (I am starting to wonder if blogging is one of those items that needs to go by the wayside.)
Let’s face it the backbone of our economy is small business owners. But how does one start a small business. I mean sure you could drive away all your friends try to recruit them to sell soap or makeup with you but lets face it there is a limit to how much of that stuff you can take. One of the best things is to develop something you are already good at into a way to make money. Another option would be to search a database of small business opportunitites.
VH1 has posted details about the upcoming second season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.
Personally I am happy to hear that Steven Adler from the original Guns N’ Roses lineup will be on the show. I was a big fan of Adler during his days with GNR. In fact most of my early drumming knowledge was from learning his style and playing along with the Appetite for Destruction album the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of high school.
It is good to know that there are places like Orovo detox for people struggling with addiction issues. And I really hope that Dr. Drew is able to help Steven out.
