You Are the Stuffing

You’re complicated and complex, yet all your pieces fit together.

People miss you if you’re gone – but they’re not sure why.

You Are Turkey and Gravy Soda

Gobble. Gobble.

and then they voted…

Just more proof, IMHO, that there should be some type of competency test for voters…

While looking at a house, my brother asked the real estate agent which direction was north because, he explained, he didn’t want the sun waking him up every morning. She asked, “Does the sun rise in the North?”

When another person jumped in and explained that the sun rises in the East (and has for some time), she shook her head and said, “Oh, I don’t keep up with that stuff.”

And then she voted.

I used to work in technical support for a 24×7 call center. One day I got a call from an individual who asked what hours the call center was open. I told him, “The number you dialed is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.” He responded, “Is that Eastern or Pacific time?” Wanting to end the call quickly, I said, “Pacific.”

And then he voted.

So my colleague and I were eating our lunch in our cafeteria when we overheard one of the administrative assistants talking about the sunburn she got on her weekend drive to the shore. She drove down in a convertible, but didn’t think she’d get sunburned “because the car was moving.”

And then she voted.

I was in a high school advanced physics class and the teacher was talking about a new military weapon that uses sonic waves on the battlefield to burst enemy soldier’s chests. One individual in the class spoke up and said, “Well that’s stupid! Why don’t they just wear headphones?”

And a few years later, he voted.

My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car. It’s designed to cut through a seatbelt if she gets trapped. She keeps it in the trunk.

And then she voted.

My friends and I were on a beer run and noticed that the cases were discounted 10%. Since it was a big party, we bought two cases. The cashier multiplied two times 10% and gave us a 20% discount.

And then they all voted.

I was hanging out with a real liberal friend of mine when we saw a woman walk by us with a nose ring attached to an earring by a chain. My friend said, “Wouldn’t the chain rip out every time she turned her head?” I had to explain to her that a person’s nose and ear remain the same distance apart no matter which way the head is turned.

And then she voted.

I couldn’t find my luggage at the airport baggage area. So I went to the lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never showed up. She smiled and told me not to worry because they were trained professionals and I was in good hands. “Now,” she asked me, “has your plane arrived yet?”

And then she voted.

Incredible(s)

Box Office Mojo: $70M Fantastic for ‘Incredibles’: “For 2004, it’s the fifth biggest opening behind Shrek 2, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Spider-Man 2 and The Passion of the Christ.”

Is it sad that our of the top 5 openers for 2004 the only one I didn’t see in the theater was The Passion?

If you are looking for a great family movie to take your kids then this is it. My kids loved it (8,7,4) and so did my wife and I.

I’m OK with this one.

how to calculate mp3 size

Author: utech  //  Category: Consistently Chili

ok so I have been messing with the mp3 files and discovered that you can pretty accurately determine how big a mp3 file will be with the following…

Duration of Recording in Seconds * Bitrate * The magic number (.122) = File Size

Oh, check out the NewLife Media site. All 2003 recordings are now 24K bitrate and a lot more size friendly for downloading.

catch up

Author: utech  //  Category: Consistently Chili

wow, almost a whole week since i posted.

life has just been too busy to blog

work

this is the last week before holiday moratorium, (NO changes to any system from one week before Thanksgiving until after New Years, for an exception you have to have Sr VP approval)

today was a rough day; got to work, reviewed email and voice mail, checked on projects, made a few calls, went to a vendor lunch and then came back for a presentation. Then the lucky guy on call this week, not me! I am backup, got called out for a major network issue. After the vendor left the rest of us went to find out what was up. Guess what…. virus! and not even a new one or just one, two viruses over a year old (ones that we have fought before). Then we find out on the call that one location had 12 PCs infected yesterday and never informed the data center, NICE! Tip for any PC support people out there, make sure your PC image has the necessary patches!

church

NL:U is awesome! If you are a reader of this blog please consider yourself invited, so drop by on Saturday evening. drop me a line for more info.

As, Pastor of All Things Plugged-In, I am working on the sound stuff and mp3 recording right now, if anyone has any tips, tricks, or anything please feel free to hook me up.

Right now I am working on re-encoding the files on the media site from 192-128K to 24K bit rates. Also getting ready to start getting some vintage NL converted from cassette to mp3s.

home

Spent 4+ hours in the yard this weekend, got the lawn mowed (or more correctly, beat the life out of it. I noticed the blade really needs to be sharpened) and cut down all the trees trying to grow off the roots of the big tree in the back. even cut down the bull thistle (that was taller than me) in the neighbors yard and blew all the leaves from the back yard and put all the yard waste in the hole next to my drive way. (neighbors still haven’t filled it in yet from when their basement wall fell in back in April) anyway, the yard looks nice.

Also my father-in-law got some of the plastic put up on the air vents we call windows.

family

we the sick bug has visited the family, Zoe was first and almost completely lost her voice (that would have been tragic ;) ) now Kyra is working on it, she had a really sore throat tonight, Evan has had a temp a couple of times but has been ok besides that, and the baby needs to turn because he keeps kicking in not nice places. Janet missed most of her classes last week due to illnesses etc. and is back at it today.

Well I need to get the trash out to the curb since I missed it last week, when I fell asleep on the couch until 5:30am.

Oh yeah and that election thing is over now. Praise The Lord! However being the ideolog that I am I am still impassioned over the debate of political philosophy. I am really interested in having some conversations with some friends that have deferring opinions, I am interested in seeing their view point.

gotta post, battery is about to die
