friday afternoon

Author: utech  //  Category: Consistently Chili

Well I made it. It is Friday afternoon and the end of a hectic week at work. Got a lot of stuff accomplished this week and actually see progress in terms of what I have left to do. But, thankfully, that is to worry about next week. Now my focus WILL shift to the family and getting things done around the house. Need to put the kitchen back together, steamed the floor last night! It really needed it. Need to get the paneling off the walls in the downstairs bathroom. And need to get the rest of the deck ripped up. Hopefully I can get half of this done. Tomorrow Janet and I are going to go celebrate our 9 years together! 9 years! It hardly seems possible. God has truly blessed me with a help mate beyond anything I could have hoped or asked for. I am blessed!

Well I enabled the post via email function that blogger is offering. Maybe this will help me post my thoughts more often. Off to go watch another reality show… Better than some stupid reality. I wonder who will get the better ratings tonight…

A Still Small Voice

God did something really cool tonight and I got to help. And despite the couple of times where I almost abandoned the task that I was given either because I figured it was just a weird idea or because I thought I messed it up, it turned out being just the way He intended it to be. God is soooo good!

Preacher Joke

I love this joke and get a laugh out of it every time I read it so I figured I would share it so you can tell it tomorrow at your church.

A minister parked his car in a no-parking zone in a large city because he was short of time and couldn’t find a space with a meter. Then he put a note under the windshield wiper that read: “I have circled the block 10 times. If I don’t park here, I’ll miss my appointment. Forgive us our trespasses.”

When he returned, he found a citation from a police officer along with this note. “I’ve circled this block for 10 years. If I don’t give you a ticket I’ll lose my job. Lead us not into temptation.”

"You’re Out of Touch"

Well now this wasn’t the smartest thing to do now was it.

“Sen. John Kerry spoke about the plight of the American worker when he traveled to Detroit earlier this week, a safe message for the blue-collar workers who build cars there.

So it was a little strange that the campaign picked as its press-pass logo for its Motor City tour the gleaming showcase car of a foreign auto company – Rolls-Royce – that makes cars priced far outside the financial reach of any middle-class voter.”

“That’s an insult to the auto worker, it’s an insult to the American worker, it’s an insult to mainstream America,” said Sam Burwell from Corunna, Mich., a third-generation auto worker for General Motors. “It also shows who he’s really in touch with: his European, elitist French friends and not Americans like me. A Rolls-Royce, for cryin’ out loud.”

Can we say “OUT OF TOUCH”!

Hi blog, remember me? Wow the last post was Monday, yikes. Been pretty busy the last couple of days. Worked from home this week on Monday and Thursday. And I really got more work done working from home that what I do in the office, now if I was just setup with the whole home office it would be really cool, not having the office phone was a pain. But hey who can complain about that, especially since I am still ‘just’ a contractor. Today was just a busy. Got in the office and had to setup a raid array and install slackware on the ftp server that is suppose to go in tomorrow night, long story short, disk was to be delivered by Wednesday! It finally showed up this morning, and was overnighted, hmm sounds a little fishy to me. Anyway I got the disk in and setup and had to fly to get to an appointment this afternoon. Which went quite well from my perspective. Got home close to the regular time, we finished off the extra pizza from last night (Thank you for the mess up Pizza Hut!) for dinner and then chilled for a while. Took the kids out for ice cream from Flubs. We have only been there like 2 or 3 times this season! And to be honest it is really over-rated. I am really getting disgusted with ‘bad’ food. And I really need to be back on the fitness lifestyle. I did run twice this week, by Wednesday my legs were KILLING me and it rained yesterday morning. LAME! I know but baby steps, k. Gotta work on ‘my’ bathroom this weekend and I have to get the flower weed bed along the side of the house. Janet got the front of the house this week, which now looks so much better! Also need to track down my neighbor and find out what the deal is with the HOLE along my drive way/his new basement wall and I need to get the dirt out of the wheel-barrel! Oh and keep the pool treated! OK that is enough for now, see you later!

working fast than blog

Author: utech  //  Category: Consistently Chili

Been working fast than the speed of blog today. Got up this morning and got my 30 minute run in. It has been awhile so it was more like 35-40 minutes. Took the car down to the body shop. Worked from home from 8am until 11pm stopping to eat 6 meals, use the facilities, and have some interaction with the family. I feel like a got a little bit accomplished today but there is still so much high priority stuff on the plate.

I did confirm one thing today… Evan is a monster. Depending upon your perspective that is either a good or bad thing, fortunately most of the time today it was entertaining for me.

Check out my Morality

Check out my Morality

30% liberal, 70% conservative

By “moral” we mean those aspects of thought and behavior that relate to commonly accepted notions of right and wrong, and to selfish and unselfish actions. One need not be religious to be “moral,” although religions do tend to espouse moral codes of behavior. We have broken down your results into two sub-categories: political/economic morals and social morals.

Based on your answers to the previous questions, your overall score on a conservative/liberal dimension of moral attitudes–compared with the general population–puts your percentile at 30, with the 99th percentile indicating the most liberal possible rating. Another way of explaining this is to say that out of 100 randomly-selected people, you will most likely be more liberal than 30 of them.

  • You tend to prefer traditional values, but may hold a few liberal views.
  • When it comes to social morals, you feel that society’s current laws are generally fair, but could be more flexible.
  • You believe that the government’s current positions are generally balanced and fair, but disagree with a few of its practices.
  • You prefer traditional and familiar experiences.
  • You are neither organized or disorganized.
  • You are relatively social and enjoy the company of others.
  • You find it easy to express irritation with others.
  • You tend to become anxious or nervous.
