I meet Steve Rose back in the early 90s when my dad worked with him at a radio station. In 1994 I even worked for Steve for a short time at the station. My dad has worked with and be friends with Steve for a number of years and Steve has been a great witness of Christ to my dad and I think it has made a big impact in his life, for that I am grateful! Here is a brief bio on Mr. Rose…

Steve Rose burst onto the scene in 1996 with the release of the best selling book, Leap of Faith: God Must Be A Packer Fan (Angel Press, September 1996) which sold more than 40,000 copies nationwide. This launched Steve’s foremost personal dream of becoming a professional speaker. He also wrote two Leap of Faith sequels; Leap of Faith 2: God Loves Packer Fans, Leap of Faith 3: The Packer Hall of Faith.

Rose has been involved in all facets of radio for over 21 years from on-air to ownership before becoming a professional writer and speaker. In 1990, at 30 years old, he became the youngest owner of a radio station in the prestigious Fox River Valley in Wisconsin. He has also produced and hosted the “Leap of Faith TV Show” on FOX-11 in Green Bay.

Leap of Faith: God Must Be A Packer Fan, the greatest Packer “feel-good” book of all time successfully prophesized the Packers would win the Super Bowl, was birthed from a radio program and his personal relationships with the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers. He did a Packer-related radio program in Green Bay, Wisconsin from 1994 to 1998. Rose worked with former Packers Reggie White, Ken Ruettgers, Robert Brooks and others.

Here is a email that was forwarded to me from my dad that Steve had sent out….

Subject: “God MUST Be A Packer Fan!!”–steve rose

Folks,

The only reason I would have the courage to share the following with you is because I have the gall to even think that God may have used me as a vessel years back through those “God/Packer books that came out through me.

So….a couple Packer thoughts over the last weeks.

From the first touchdown Brett threw last week in Oakland, I swore I was watching “Angels in the Outfield.” If you remember that baseball movie, angels took over the bodies of the ballplayers and made spectacular catches, etc. Honestly, when I saw the catch that Wesley Walls made I asked myself, “How did he see that ball?” “Did it go through the defender?” It really looked strange to me, it really did. Then Ferguson makes an amazing over the opposite shoulder catch. If you are not a baseball/football player you can’t begin to appreciate that. Then Brett throws two bombs in between defenders, etc. I guess I’m trying to show divine intervention.

Then this past weekend I am reminded how “different” God’s plans are from ours and how He wants to work things “in His way in even a greater way.” Romans 8:28. I pray you all know it. If not, check it out and then pick this up where you left off.

I want you to consider the following events that I believe will prove this point.

1. Seattle loses to SF Saturday…..a bad thing??!!

2. Dallas loses to N.O. …..a really bad thing!

3. Packers need to beat Denver?? Yeah, admit it, none of us could have been positive of win IF Broncos play all their players.

4. Detroit beats Rams…who cares?? (We would)

5. Minnesota is beating Ariz by two TDs w/4 mins…oh no!!

Okay, Romans 8:28 says God will take all things and use them for good, so here’s what happens!!

1. God allows Seattle to win to stay IN the playoffs knowing that the Packers will have a home game against none other then Seattle. The “beat Holmgren factor” will keep the Packers focused trust me, plus we know we can beat them. (See Oct 12….35-14)

2. Dallas loses to N.O. We thought, “Oh no Terry Glenn falls down!” (last second interception to seal win for NO) At this point we really think we are done for…admit it. Now we need to beat Denver…but Ariz beating the #1 offense in football!” God allowed this knowing full well of the whole picture so that Dallas would slip to #6 seed so we wouldn’t have to play them in Lambeau…not that we can’t beat them, but the “beat Holmgren factor” and the fact that we beat them before, etc.

3. Packers need to beat Denver….well, with the “win one for Irv Favre” factor, Denver didn’t have a chance.

4. Detroit over Rams…who cares? We do….with this loss to Rams our chances are better of going to Philly in round two. Just my opinion, but let me have my day. I think we have better chance to beat them.

5. Ariz/ Minn miracles!!—if you saw highlights of the last 4 minutes you saw it all. 2 TD’s….4 minutes….on-side kick

recovery….miracle 4th and 24 with :00 on clock@ touchdown….need we say more. Guys foot is in bounds by 3 inches…quarterback threads needle on run from 30 yds away, right??….let’s call it for what it was a 1 in 50 play, right??

Thus….the following….

*not just a wild card game in another city…but a home game as Division champs against a team we can beat. I think that was the Lord showing favor for some reason, why I don’t know. Also he released Packers and all of us from pain of Arizona, KC, Philadelphia or Lions losses. None of it matters now!!!

The Moral of the story…In a split second God took what looked to be numerous disastrous events and turned them for good—-amen??? How many times do we have events that look like such a mangled mess and God is waiting for the precise moment when He is hoping we will have the faith to go out for the pass of which He wants to “thread the needle in miraculous fashion for His Glory in your life???”

Comments are welcome. I’m considering a letter to the editor with all or part of the above. It was a letter to the editor, frankly that led me to write Leap 1. Now, I don’t envision anything crazy (book, etc) , but if you feel this is a message that would have some value, let me know and I can forward it to the media.

In Christ,

steve rose

PS Now, we’ll see how it all plays out…maybe God can get more glory through a loss. (See Leap 3…Packers lose to underdog Denver!!–Jan 1998!!)
